Mrs. Betty “June”  Spielman Stolins, 94, of Hagerstown, went to be with her Lord and Savior Monday morning, December 26, 2022, at Meritus Medical Center, Hagerstown.  She was the wife of the late John Downs Stolins, who preceded her in death on August 13, 1999.

Born October 18, 1928, Betty June Spielman of Hagerstown, was the daughter of the late Albert Heard and Elizabeth Bikle Spielman.

June met the love of her life, John Stolins, at the Glen Burnie post office, where she was employed. She moved to Southern California with John Stolins in 1966, but eventually relocated back to Hagerstown.

June was a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hagerstown, where she participated in Bible studies and Sunday school. June was  also a cafeteria aid at Northern Middle School, was a longtime member of TOPS Club, Inc., enjoyed gardening and loved animals.

Surviving are her children Connie Peacock of Fort Worth, Texas, Vicki Mehsling and husband Denny of Edgewood, Maryland, MaryAnn Ahrens and husband Ron of Huntington Beach, California, Tom Witherington and wife Shannon of Clarksville, Tennessee, Doug Witherington and wife Margaret of Vista, California, Kim Jones and husband Chris of Hagerstown, and John Stolins and wife Cathy of Clear Spring; thirteen grandchildren; many beloved great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.  June also had a special place in her heart for her cat, Toby, who has been residing with her daughter, Vicki since June went into assisted living at CommonWealth Senior Living in 2019.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Jack Spielman.

The Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, Hagerstown, is assisting the family with arrangements.  There will not be visiting at the funeral home.  A Celebration of Life service will be held at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church at 216 Cleveland Ave in Hagerstown on January 14th at 11:00am.   Inurnment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Stolins name to either her church, Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 216 N Cleveland Avenue, Hagerstown, Maryland  21740; or the Humane Society of Washington County, 13011 Maugansville Road, Hagerstown, Maryland  21740.
