Betty J. Short, 73, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at Laurel Lakes Rehabilitation and Wellness Center in Chambersburg, PA. She was born on November 29, 1952, in Chambersburg, PA to the late Franklin R. and Anna L. (Yohe) Burtman.
Betty was a 1972 graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School. She then went on to work as a Machine Operator for Knouse Foods in Chambersburg, PA for over 40 years. Betty was an avid wrestling fan and enjoyed watching wrestling on TV seven days a week.
She is survived by her daughters Amy Short (Tom) of Chambersburg, PA; Crissy Short of Johnstown, PA; grandchildren Kelsey, Lyndsay, Gabriel, Dakota, Caitlyn, Makarah, Taylor, and Michael; great grandchildren Isaac and Aubrey; sister Mary Defenderfer (Michael) of Chambersburg, PA.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 9, 2026, from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Burial will be private.
