Mrs. Betty Jane McKinsey Grove, 88, of Hagerstown, died early Sunday afternoon, April 2, 2017, at her residence. She was the wife of the late Earl Loyde Grove, her husband of 66 years who preceded her in death on April 29, 2013.
Born, March 17, 1929, in Hagerstown, she was a daughter of the late John Calvin and Helen L. Boyer McKinsey.
For many years, Mrs. Grove worked as a silk finisher for Murphy Dry Cleaners and Anderson Dry Cleaners.
She was a member of Christ’s Reformed Church United Church of Christ, Hagerstown.
Mrs. Grove enjoyed sewing and cooking, and spending time with her family.
Surviving are her children, Gary E. Grove and wife, Donna, and Linda L. Crawford and husband, Gerald, all of Hagerstown, and Nancy E. Pryor and husband, Alan, of Clear Spring, Md.; grandchildren, Amanda Jane Crawford and husband, Toby Fatzinger, of Bowling Green, Ky., Angela S. Darnell and husband, Matthew, of Fort Mill, S.C., and Gary E. Grove II and wife, Susan, of Hampton, Va.; her step grandchildren, Craig Pryor and wife, Sonny, of Hagerstown, and Chris Pryor and wife, Amy, of Clear Spring; her great-grandchildren, Sarah and Amber Grove, and Nolan and Clara Jane Darnell; her step great-grandchildren, Tricia, Brooke, Kaitlin, Haley and Shane; as well as her sisters, Loretta Thompson and Valerie Polley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by siblings, Jeanette Vaughn, Delores Polley, and John and Robert McKinsey.
The Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, Hagerstown, is handling the arrangements. There will not be visiting at the funeral home. The funeral service will be private and at the convenience of the family.
