Bernadine “Bernie” Joy (Yohe) Beadle, 86, of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2026, at Mercy House in Chambersburg, surrounded by her loving family.
Bernie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend whose life reflected her love for God, kindness, unwavering devotion to her family, and strong work ethic.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kenneth L. Beadle Sr.; her mother, Mary Yohe Barnhart Shover; her sister, Oretta Keese; her brothers, Ray Barnhart and Roger Barnhart; and Logan Gilbert, whom she considered a great-grandson.
She is survived by her children: Kenneth L. Beadle II and his wife, Kimberly; Keith L. Beadle and his significant other, Mary Besore; Denise M. Schroyer and her husband, Richie Todd; and Kami L. Beadle. She also leaves behind five grandchildren: Joshua Beadle, Keith Beadle Jr., Dustin Malone, Brandon Malone and his wife, Caity, and Skylee Stine. Her eight great-grandchildren-Ashley Beadle, Jeremy Beadle, Tyler Beadle, Arianna Malone, Landyn Malone, Colt Malone, Rhett Malone, and Madalynn Walls-brought her immeasurable pride and joy.
As the wife of a member of the United States Air Force, Bernie made homes for her family in numerous states while supporting her husband throughout his military career. Following his military service, the family returned to Chambersburg in 1966, where they made their permanent home.
After raising her family, Bernie began working at the former Stanley Company and later retired from TB Woods Ultracon after many years of dedicated service.
Bernie found great happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She loved tending her vegetable garden, preserving its harvest through canning, reading Reader’s Digest, and spending quiet hours completing word search puzzles. She especially loved dancing with her beloved husband, Ken, whether at family gatherings or simply whenever a favorite song came on. Those moments together became some of her family’s most cherished memories. Her adventurous spirit never faded. She celebrated her 80th birthday by hopping on an ATV and going four-wheeling, creating yet another cherished family memory. Above all, she treasured time spent with her family, creating memories that will be cherished for generations. Her Christian faith was the foundation of her life and a source of strength, hope, and comfort throughout the years.
Bernie will be remembered for her gentle spirit, steadfast love for her family, and the example of hard work, resilience, compassion, and faith that she shared with everyone who knew her. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those who loved her, and she will be deeply missed.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Wednesday, August 5, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Sellers Funeral Home, 297 Philadelphia Avenue, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Sellers Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Christopher Moore. Interment will follow at Salem United Brethren Church Cemetery.
