Mr. Bennett Newcomer, 82, of Waynesboro, PA passed away Saturday morning, May 24, 2025, in the Waynesboro Hospital.

Born February 18, 1943 in Chambersburg, PA, he was the son of the late Harry and Priscilla (Duke) Newcomer.

Mr. Newcomer served with the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was stationed at Andrews Air Force Base.

He and his wife, the late Natalie L. (Brown) Newcomer, were married February 27, 1960. They resided in San Antonio, TX before transferring to Andrews Air Force Base. They later lived in Upper Marlboro, MD before moving to Arlington (Crystal City), VA, returning to Waynesboro in 1984. Mrs. Newcomer died on November 29, 2019.

Following his discharge from the military, Mr. Newcomer worked as a police officer with the Metro Police Department in Washington, D.C., for over 20 years. After returning to Waynesboro, he worked at Snowberger’s Oldsmobile, Letterkenny Army Depot, Penn National Golf Course and Maranatha Ministry, Inc. in Chambersburg.

He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and playing golf.

He is survived by two sons, Craig L. Newcomer (Jenna) of Chambersburg, PA and Cris A. Newcomer (Amber) of Smithsburg, MD; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Tom Newcomer and Ronnie Newcomer, both of Chambersburg; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one sister, Donna Ford.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, June 4, 2025, in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro with Pastor Dwan Newsome officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg, where military graveside honors will be conducted by the honor guard of Charles Nitterhouse V.F.W. Post #1599, Chambersburg.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Tuesday evening, in the funeral home.
