Anita “Betty” Elizabeth Wilhide Edelman

Anita, better known as “Betty” was born on July 9, 1928 in Baltimore, MD.

She was the daughter of the late William Roger Wilhide and Olive (Knode) Wilhide. She lived her early life in Boonsboro, MD.

Mrs. Edelman graduated from Boonsboro High School with the class of 1946. She then studied music education at Lebanon Valley College.

She and her husband of over 62 years, the late Asher S. Edelman, Jr. were married on August 21 1949 in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Boonsboro, MD where she was a member and sang with the choir. They moved to the present residence in Waynesboro, PA in November of 1953.

Mrs. Edelman enjoyed 25 years as a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She was a previous member of the Waynesboro Hospital Auxiliary and the Girl Scouts of America where she was a Brownie Troop leader and assisted with the Junior Girl Scouts.

She was a flautist in the Wayne Band of Waynesboro for over 28 years and also enjoyed playing the trumpet, piano, and violin.

She is survived by her son, Asher Edelman IV (Deborah) of Waynesboro, her daughter, Emily Walsh of Virginia Beach, grandsons Brian Edelman (Candi) of Waynesboro, Christopher Edelman (Lori) of Boonsboro, a great granddaughter, Addison Edelman, a granddaughter-in-law, Amie Walsh and three great grandsons, Anthony, Azaiyah and Alijah.

Mrs. Edelman was preceded in death by her husband on December 10, 2011 and her son-in-law, Daniel Walsh.

Private graveside services will be held in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro, PA.

Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro, is handling the arrangements.
