Mr. Alvin R. Sheeley, 86, of Waynesboro, PA passed away Thursday, August 15, 2024, in his home.

Born May 15, 1938 in Washington Township, PA, he was the son of the late Merle and Mary Ann (Toms) Sheeley. He was a lifelong resident of the Waynesboro area.

He graduated from Waynesboro Senior High School with the Class of 1956.

Mr. Sheeley served with United States Air Force for four years.

He and his wife of over 25 years, Ann L. (DeShong) Sheeley, were married on October 10, 1998.

Mr. Sheeley worked as an electrician at Corning Glass Works, Greencastle. He retired in 1994 after more than 35 years of service with the company.

He was a member of Salem Church and Joe Stickell American Legion Post #15, both of Waynesboro.

Mr. Sheeley enjoyed hunting, mowing grass, American Cruise Lines, and traveling – especially out west. He also loved to spend time with his family and friends.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Lonnie Sheeley of Chambersburg, Kelly Misner of Waynesboro, Stacie Sheeley of Waynesboro and Craig Sheeley of Waynesboro; four step-children, Tammy Soop of New Cumberland, PA, Nicole Parson of McConnellsburg, PA, Robert Morgan of Ponte Verde, FL and Ronald Morgan of Great Falls, VA; 8 grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 2 step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Howard Sheeley of Greencastle, PA; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Katherine Wolfe, Emma Jean Chilcote and Janice Scott; and one brother, Sheridan Sheeley.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, August 21, 2024 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro with Pastor Brent Mangus officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro, where military honors will be conducted by the honor guard of Charles Nitterhouse V.F.W. Post #1599, Chambersburg.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Tuesday evening, in the funeral home.
