Mrs. Alice Jean (Wright) Fisher, 96, of Waynesboro, PA, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2026.
Born March 7, 1930 in Clarksburg, WV, she was the oldest of six children to the late Ira Dewey and Evelyn Caroline (Windsor) Wright.
Jean was a graduate of Thurmont High School, Thurmont, MD with the Class of 1948.
In her early years, she was employed by J.J. Newberry’s, Treibles Book and Stationary, Wise Jewelry Store, Miller’s Furniture and Trojan Sports Center, all of Waynesboro.
She and her husband, the late Mr. Wayne L. Fisher, were married December 18, 1951 at Blue Rock United Brethren Church by the late Rev. Ira Weidner. They were together for more than 67 years when Wayne passed away March 24, 2019.
She was a member of Blue Rock United Brethren Church, Waynesboro. Jean enjoyed philatelic hobby, gardening, sewing and especially enjoyed the canning season. She also enjoyed watching ice skating on TV, Song and Scripture, Fox News and cooking shows.
She is survived by son, Terry L. Fisher of Waynesboro; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Karen Sue (Wright) King of Ranson, WV; brother, Charles Dewey Wright of Mercersburg, PA; several cousins; and a number of nieces and nephews as well as a host of extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by daughter, Lisa Ann Smith who passed away March 8, 2009; and three sisters, Ellen V. Woodring, Mary Lou Myers and Joanne G. Wagaman.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, March 13, 2026 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro with Pastor Gregory Helman officiating. Burial will be private in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg, PA.
