Alan David East, 60, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, August 30, 2025.
Born August 24, 1965 in Waynesboro, PA, he was the son of Linda (Wolfkill) Alter of Waynesboro and the late David East.
Alan was a graduate of Waynesboro Area Senior High School with the Class of 1983 and had proudly served his country in the United States Army as a Unit Supply Specialist from 1986-1988.
Alan worked as a welder and metal worker for many years for many years, working for several area companies including, JLG Industries, Hennessey Products, MDT Biologic Corp. and Grove Worldwide to name a few. Later he made his living as a truck driver, hauling for 5 Star Driveway, Trans Solutions, Inc., Cressler Trucking. Schwerman Trucking and FedEx.
Alan was a true free spirit who lived life boldly and unapologetically. A motorcycle enthusiast with a heart as vibrant as his favorite color, pink, he brought energy and joy wherever he went. He loved to cook and was always happiest surrounded by friends, sharing meals, laughter and good times.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by sisters, Michelle Beatty and her husband, Chuck of Hollywood, MD and Jackie Rose and her husband, Ryan of Waynesboro; step-mother, Sue Brookens of Waynesboro; half-brother, Andrew D. “Dewey” East of Dover, PA; half-sisters, Annette King of Edmond, OK and Angel Shetler of Waynesboro; nieces and nephews, Ryan, Casey, Alexis and Austin; and a host of extended family and friends.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his nephew, Corey Lee Alter.
A service to honor Alan’s life will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, September 6, 2025 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro with Pastor Al Deal officiating.
The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 P.M., Saturday.
Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
