Shepherd University’s Sara Veara

HAGERSTOWN, Md. – One thing can be said about the North Hagerstown baseball team.

The Hubs don’t like to take the easy way out.

North moved its record to 5-0 by scoring the winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning on Friday to claim a 3-2 win over Williamsport.

It was the Hubs’ third one-run win of the season and fourth was by a two-run margin.

Blake Custer had three hits and drove in two runs for the Hubs, who finished with eight hits for the game. Joey Dorsey scored twice for North.

Jordan Gingerich (1-0) got the win with two innings of relief, allowing one hit, while striking out one. Grant Semler started and pitched six innings, allowing two runs (1 earned) on five hits with and walk and nine strikeouts.

Williamsport jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first, but the Hubs scored single runs in the first and fourth to tie the game.

The Wildcats (4-2) were led by Jared Dangerfield and Cameron Face with two hits each. Dangerfield and Ean Boyer drove in Williamsport’s runs.

Jackson Coulter added two hits for North. The Hubs won without the benefit of an extra-base hit.
