New Hagerstown shop ‘Saving lives, one sale at a time’

MAUGANSVILLE – This weekend, animal lovers and thifters alike came out to celebrate the grand opening of Saved by the Sale! Located in Maugansville on Longmeadow Road, not only does this thrift shop have a wide range of affordable, second-hand items, but at the heart is a mission to save pet’s lives in times of crisis.

Understanding firsthand the burden unexpected vet costs can impose, owner Kait, set out to provide another option. A portion of each purchase made at Saved by the Sale goes towards the Emergency Vet Relief Fund. By applying online, pet parents can access the fund for assistance with emergency vet costs.

The grand opening featured vendors such as Hearty Pet retail store, Piece O’ Cake bakery and Antietam Humane Society with an adoptable pup tagging along. Musical performances were provided by the Clay Band and Luke Meeker of band D60. Additionally, Good to Go food truck was in the parking lot providing hot and ready eats.

The shop is a family operation run by Kait and her husband along with the “real bosses” of Saved by the Sale, Magneto and Beast. These spunky pups hang around the shop greeting customers and taking in the love.

Saved by the Sale also accepts donations of everything from clothes, furniture, kitchenwares and, of course, pet items! Donations can be dropped off at the shop to the right of the main entrance. While donations are a fantastic way to support the store, other ways to help include sponsoring events, spreading the word through social media and shopping in-store.

Moving forward, Saved by the Sale hopes to continue expanding community partnerships, host fundraising events, and adoption events. With the slogan, “Saving lives, one sale at a time”, the core of this business is a love for animals. With this, Saved by the Sale aspires to one day open an animal sanctuary with an affordable clinic, hoping to save as many furry friends as possible.

Saved by the Sale is open Monday-Saturday from 9:30 a.m.-6 p.m., and donations are accepted Monday-Thursday 5:30 p.m.-7 p.m., Friday 12:30 p.m.-7 p.m., and Saturday-Sunday 9:30 a.m.-7 p.m. For more information about the shop, readers may visit their Facebook page, or website at https://savedbythesale.my.canva.site/save-by-the-sale-website/?fbclid=IwVERDUAM81QJleHRuA2FlbQIxMAABHlrBwsRL9_YZtpzyCBbYzm3cFrtzWS9vGhx-oeguRkf38YZcbpQX-YVtnCoi_aem_t8tX-WADDYYAowMU2TWPyA.
