Nearly $300,000 for Plum Creek Watershed Restoration Project

HARRISBURG – Sen. Doug Mastriano (R-33) announced a nearly $300,000 state grant has been awarded to restore the Plum Creek watershed in Adams County.

“Plum Creek is an important waterway for surrounding residents and the community,” Mastriano said. “This grant will help restore the watershed and protect this community asset for current and future residents to enjoy.”

Conewago Township will receive the nearly $300,000 state grant to fund the watershed restoration project and plant riparian bufers. The grant is being provided through the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) Watershed Restoration Protection Program. The program provides grants of up to $300,000 and requires the applicant to fund 15% of the total project cost.

Funding the program is provided through the 2012 law establishing an impact fee on Marcellus Shale natural gas wells.

The grant was awarded by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA). The CFA was created in 2004 as an independent agency of the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development to administer the commonwealth’s economic stimulus packages.
