CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — What makes someone choose Franklin County as a destination — and what makes visitors want to return?
The latest episode of “Mike on the Mic” explores those questions with Franklin County Visitors Bureau Executive Director Janet Pollard, who discusses her career, the county’s tourism industry and the role visitors play in supporting local businesses and communities.
Pollard, the recipient of the Franklin County Area Development Corp.’s 2026 Zane A. Miller Award, has spent years promoting the people, history, attractions and experiences that make Franklin County distinctive.
During the conversation, Pollard discusses her journey and the work behind introducing visitors to the county. The episode also highlights the people and places that help shape Franklin County’s identity and encourage travelers to spend time in the area.
Tourism reaches beyond attracting visitors. Travelers who stay, dine, shop and attend events contribute to businesses throughout the county, making tourism part of the broader local economy.
For Pollard and the Franklin County Visitors Bureau, promoting the county means helping potential visitors discover those experiences while also giving them reasons to return.
The conversation offers a closer look at the work behind that effort and the person who spends her days helping others discover what Franklin County has to offer.
Pollard’s work was recognized this year with the Zane A. Miller Award from the Franklin County Area Development Corp. The recognition adds another dimension to the episode as Pollard reflects on her journey and the community she promotes.
