Washington Township, Gettysburg police get funding

HARRISBURG-Several regional police departments will share in more than $500,000 in funding for local law enforcement agencies in Franklin and Adams counties through the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD) Local Law Enforcement Support Grant Program.

The new grant program was amended into last year’s state budget and inspired by legislation championed by Sen. Doug Mastriano.

“We know law enforcement agencies have faced a unique set of challenges since 2020,” Mastriano said. “Rising crime, influx of deadly drugs like fentanyl, staff shortages, and dwindling resources have only exacerbated these problems. This investment signifies commitment to helping officers protect and serve their communities, ultimately saving lives.”

Program funding can be used for many different projects or purchases to enhance public safety, such as communications system upgrades, body-worn or in-car cameras, recruitment and retention, training, surveillance cameras, automated license plate readers and more.

District grant award recipients:

  • Conewago Township Police: $70,599
  • Gettysburg Borough Police: $126,593
  • Littlestown Borough Police: $126,254
  • Washington Township Police: $133,975
  • Eastern Adams Regional Police Department: $109,852
