Manning Media has acquired three area radio stations from Verstandig Media, marking Verstandig’s exit from the radio business.
The acquired stations are Rock “92.1 Bob Rocks” WBHB Mercersburg, Country 101.5 WAYZ Waynesboro, and Hot AC “100.9 Next-FM” 1380 WIKG/W265DU Waynesboro for $700,000.
Fred Manning, owner of Manning Media, said the acquisition will be effective as soon as October, depending upon approval from the FCC. He said no plans are in place to make changes in the stations, noting the importance of 92.1 Bob Rocks and 101.5 WAYZ in the area.
He called the acquisition a strategic one for his company, adding it will help strengthen the firm’s reach in the Hagerstown area.
The stations will join Manning’s existing stations in the market: Classic Hits “106.9 The Eagle” WWEG Myersville, News/Talk 1490 WARK/98.9 W255CP Hagerstown and 106.3 W292FR Frederick, Classic Country “Max Country” 93.5 W228AM Frederick/100.5 W263CR Halfway/Hagerstown fed by WWEG-HD3, and Soft Oldies “Fred-FM” 94.3 W232DG Frederick/102.1 W271BV Hagerstown/106.9 WWEG-HD2. The company also owns the Frederick targeted Hot AC “Key 103” WAFY Middletown.
