CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — A 23-year-old man faces two felony charges after police said he strangled and sexually assaulted a nurse while she was working at Chambersburg Hospital.
Mohamed Elramadi, of Chambersburg, was charged with felony strangulation, felony aggravated assault and misdemeanor indecent assault following the incident Tuesday, Nov. 3, according to a criminal complaint filed by Chambersburg police.
Officers responded to the hospital about 6:32 p.m. for a reported assault. A nurse told police she was preparing to leave Elramadi’s room when he approached her from behind, placed both hands around her neck and squeezed, making it difficult for her to breathe.
The nurse struggled to free herself and screamed for help, according to the complaint. She told investigators she was unable to remove his hands from her neck for 30 to 60 seconds.
During the attack, Elramadi also put his hands around her waist and grabbed her buttocks, the nurse told police.
An officer reported seeing red marks around the nurse’s throat and chest after the incident.
During a subsequent interview, Elramadi admitted putting his hands around the nurse’s neck so he could sexually assault her and grabbing her buttocks, according to the complaint.
The aggravated assault charge stems from the alleged attack on a nurse while she was performing her duties at the hospital, according to charging documents.
Elramadi was being held in Franklin County Prison after he was unable to post bail. The information provided did not include the bail amount or a scheduled court date.
The charges are allegations. Elramadi is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
