WAYNESBORO, Pa. – Waynesboro celebrated its past and present Wednesday during Maiden’s Day, but Northern York spoiled the occasion with a 17-2 victory in Mid-Penn Conference softball action.
The annual event honored former Waynesboro players, who were introduced alongside current starters and ran onto the field together prior to first pitch.
Emma Bradley (Class of 2027) started in the circle for the Maidens, with Lydia Shank (2026) behind the plate. Around the field, current players were paired with alumni, including Haley Reynolds (2026) at first base alongside Hannah Mummert (1998-2001), and Rylee Miller (2026) at third base with Stephanie Miller (1995-1996).
At shortstop, Abby Byers (2027) was joined by Cat Byers (1993-1997), while Laken Schroyer (2029) in left field took the field with Brittany Hess (2004). In right field, Elena Cooper (2028) was paired with Savannah Brosius (2020-2023). Chloe Lowans (2028) started at second base, and Liv Shockey (2028) played center field.
“Today we celebrate the past Maidens joining our present Maidens,” the team shared as part of the ceremony.
Northern York quickly took control of the game and never looked back, securing a 17-2 win over the Maidens.
Despite the result, the day highlighted the program’s tradition and connection across generations, as alumni returned to support and share the field with the current team.
