North Hagerstown basketball standout Braydon Cespedes capped his junior season with another honor, earning a spot on the Maryland Basketball Coaches Association Class 3A-4A All-State Third Team.
Cespedes averaged 22.4 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 3.2 steals per game for the Hubs. He helped North upset top-seeded Oakdale and advance to the Class 3A West championship game before falling to Frederick.
Cespedes was also named the Washington County Athletic Association Junior of the Year and Most Improved Player and earned first-team All-Public School honors. Conference coaches selected him to the Central Maryland Conference Large Schools First Team.
Crummitt named to D2Football.com watch list
Shepherd University senior offensive lineman Josh Crummitt was named to the 2026 D2Football.com Elite 100 Watch List.
Crummitt was selected to the Squad team, which is comparable to honorable mention behind the first- and second-team selections.
A first-team All-PSAC East selection in 2025, Crummitt helped anchor an offensive line that paved the way for Jordan Barnett to rush for more than 1,200 yards and 17 touchdowns. Shepherd averaged 168.73 rushing yards and 30.5 points per game.
No Shippensburg players were selected.
Shepherd women picked fourth in PSAC East
The two-time defending PSAC champion Shepherd University women’s soccer team was picked to finish fourth in the 2026 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division preseason poll.
West Chester received all seven first-place votes and was picked to win the East, followed by Kutztown and Bloomsburg. Millersville was picked fifth, followed by East Stroudsburg, Shippensburg and Mansfield.
Shepherd, which finished 12-2-6 overall and 7-1-6 in the PSAC last season, enters the season under first-year coach Bob Meals.
The Rams return two of their top three scorers in Merritt Delk, who had nine goals and seven assists last season, and Reagan Ackermann, who had eight goals and eight assists.
Slippery Rock was picked to win the Western Division.
Shepherd men picked fifth in PSAC East
Shepherd was picked to finish fifth in the PSAC East men’s soccer preseason poll.
The Rams are led by Josh Pett, the 2025 PSAC Athlete of the Year.
Millersville was picked to win the East, followed by West Chester, Bloomsburg and East Stroudsburg. Shippensburg was picked sixth.
Gannon was selected as the favorite in the Western Division.
