Kline to retire early next year

WAYNESBORO—Waynesboro Area School District Superintendent Tod Kline has announced his retirement.

“I am in my 36th year in public education, and it has been a great ride,” Kline said. “To be able to start my career in the school district in which I grew up and retire from it also, is a special gift and experience. I love telling everyone that I had first grade in the WASD School Board Meeting Room, so I will end my career in the same room it started.”

Kline has been Waynesboro superintendent since 2017. The board approved his retirement effective Feb. 20, 2023 and now the board must find his replacement.

“School boards in Pennsylvania are given a lot of options in how they hire a superintendent,” said Board President Karen Herald.

She said the board will advertise on various educational websites throughout the state, as well as post internally and will review applications and plans for two rounds of interviews.

“We are hopeful to have selected our new superintendent by the end of the year,” Herald said.

“My most sincere thanks go to the school board and community allowing me the opportunity to be WASD’s superintendent,” Kline said.
