HAGERSTOWN, Md. — The Kiwanis Club of Hagerstown distributed essential items to all 44 schools in the Washington County district with the help of local volunteers.
The club has been collecting a wide variety of essential items over several months leading up to Washington County’s first day of school on Aug. 25. From clothes and undergarments to hygiene and personal care items, the goal was to ensure that no student went without essential items upon returning for the 2026-27 school year.
Distribution of the items was made possible through delivery and pickup efforts by Kiwanis members and school staff. Although most of distribution took place on Aug. 17-19, the club told LocalNews1.org that it is still finishing the distribution of these items a week later due to another large clothing donation.
