Kahl, Jenkins lead Indians past Polar Bears

WAYNESBORO– Waynesboro’s bats came alive Tuesday afternoon as the Indians delivered a decisive 13-3 win over Northern York, avenging an earlier season loss to the Polar Bears. The victory continued Waynesboro’s hot streak at home, where the team has now won six straight games dating back to last spring.

Junior pitcher John Kahl set the tone early, striking out seven over four innings while surrendering just one earned run and two unearned on four hits and one walk. The right-hander’s command helped keep Northern York’s lineup off balance throughout his outing.

At the plate, Riley Eaton sparked the offense by going 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBIs, and a triple. He also maintained his perfect streak of recording at least one stolen base in each game this season. Ryan Jenkins was also clutch, finishing 3-for-3 with five RBIs and a double to fuel the Indians’ surge.

Waynesboro’s lineup struck efficiently, fanning only twice and capitalizing on nearly every scoring opportunity. In contrast, Northern York’s hitters struggled to make contact, striking out nine times.

The Indians have now improved to 4-1 on the season and are averaging 8.2 runs across their last six home appearances. They’ll aim to extend that streak when they host Greencastle-Antrim at 4:15 p.m. Thursday. The Blue Devils have been on an offensive tear, scoring at least 10 runs in every game so far.

Northern York fell to 1-2 and will look to regroup Thursday at home against Big Spring, whose pitching staff has allowed an average of just 1.8 runs per game this season.
