IRP’s Spring 2024 Semester Kicks Off with Engaging Lectures and Events

The Spring 2024 semester at the Institute for Research on Poverty (IRP) began on Monday, March 11. The schedule for the semester includes a series of engaging lectures both in-person and via Zoom, covering a diverse range of topics. For Menno Haven residents and individuals on the Zoom Guest list, enrollment is not required.

Lecture Highlights for This Week:

  • Monday, March 11 – 9 a.m. (ZOOM):
    • Topic: “When Character and Integrity Count” by George Marshall, presented by Antigoni Ladd.
  • Tuesday, March 12 – In-Person at Menno Haven Life Center:
    • 9 a.m.: “How Americans Viewed World War II Through the Pages of Life” by Leon Reed.
    • 10:30 a.m.: Presentation by The Franklin County Area Agency on Aging, led by Tawnya Hurley.
  • Wednesday, March 13 – 9 a.m. (ZOOM):
    • Topic: “I Didn’t Know That Was Covered!” by Galen C. Krebs.
  • Thursday, March 14 – In-Person at Menno Haven Life Center:
    • 9 a.m.: “There’s Nothing in the Local Paper!” The Evolution of Local Media” by Andrea Ciccocioppo Rose.
    • 10:30 a.m.: Presentation on “More Little-Known Facts about the American Civil War” by Bob O’Connor.
