WAYNESBORO, Pa. — Hamner’s Garage, a trusted fixture in the Waynesboro automotive community, has officially announced the permanent closure of its repair shop following the passing of lifelong resident and business owner Robert L. “Bobby” Hamner this past May.
For over 45 years, the local garage provided mechanical repairs, maintenance services and honest automotive care to generations of residents in Franklin County.
Born and raised in Waynesboro, Bobby graduated from Waynesboro Area Senior High School in 1972. He began his career working alongside his father, Lee R. Hamner, at L.R. Hamner Excavating and Contracting and Zep Oil Company. He later went on to fulfill his passion for mechanics by establishing his own independent garage.
Beyond his business, Bobby was a dedicated member of the Acacia Lodge #586 F. & A. M. in Waynesboro and the Valley of Harrisburg Scottish Rite.
Matthew Hurley of Hurley Auctions in Greencastle is undertaking the large-scale liquidation of Hamner’s Garage to include all service vehicles, heavy equipment, professional tools, parts and supplies. All items are currently being auctioned online to the general public through Oct. 7. A live preview of the items is available on Oct. 6, from 4-6 p.m., at the garage located at 11698 N. Potomac St., Waynesboro.
