HAGERSTOWN, Md. — On Saturday, Sept. 26, the Hagerstown Area Religious Council will bring together people from different faiths for an evening of food, fellowship and learning at the 2026 Interfaith Progressive Dinner.
The event will run from 5 to 9 p.m. at several Hagerstown places of worship to mark the International Day of Peace.
Rather than staying in one place, participants will visit several houses of worship, enjoying different parts of the meal at each stop.
This progressive format lets participants learn about different faiths, try foods with spiritual and cultural meaning, and connect with others in the community.
Four faith traditions to participate
This year’s Interfaith Progressive Dinner will include four different faith traditions.
Participants will visit St. John’s Episcopal Church, representing the Anglican Christian tradition; the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; the Church of the Wild Two Rivers, which focuses on nature-based spirituality; and the Islamic Society of Western Maryland, representing the Muslim faith.
The evening begins at St. John’s Episcopal Church at 101 S. Prospect Street, where appetizers will be served. Please arrive by 4:45 p.m. so the event can start at 5 p.m.
Parking is available behind the church near the corner of Walnut and Antietam streets.
Afterward, participants will head to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 1253 Mount Aetna Road for the rest of the evening. The Church of the Wild Two Rivers will also join at this location.
The final stop is the Islamic Society of Western Maryland at 2036 Day Road.
Participants will drive between locations, and parking will be available at each house of worship.
Event encourages interfaith understanding
The Interfaith Progressive Dinner includes a shared meal and gives participants a chance to experience different religious communities and learn about their traditions.
As participants move from place to place, they will hear from members of each faith community and taste foods tied to their spiritual and cultural traditions.
The evening aims to encourage conversation, deepen understanding and help build relationships among people from different religious backgrounds.
The Hagerstown Area Religious Council includes churches and faith groups from the greater Hagerstown area. Its goal is to unite faith communities through service, understanding, and action on issues affecting people in Washington County.
Registration is limited
Tickets for the 2026 Interfaith Progressive Dinner cost $25 for general admission and $10 for students, including college students.
Participation is limited to 100 people. The ticket deadline is Friday, Sept. 18.
