Hagerstown Area Religious Council announces family, service, interfaith events

HAGERSTOWN, Md. — The Hagerstown Area Religious Council, along with several community organizations, has some exciting events lined up for families this summer and fall. There will be multiple opportunities to get involved, access resources and enjoy some fun activities.

National Night Out

On Tuesday, Aug. 4, the Hagerstown Police Department is hosting National Night Out from 5 to 8 p.m. at Fairgrounds Park’s north pavilion. This free community event will feature live music, snow cones, lawn games, an inflatable slide, drone demos, axe-throwing and displays of specialized law-enforcement vehicles.

Sheetz will be supplying hot dogs, and backpacks and school supplies will also be available to give away while supplies last. It’s a great way to connect with neighbors and law enforcement in a fun atmosphere. If you have any questions, you can reach out to [email protected].

Family fun day

On Saturday, Aug. 15, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is hosting a free family fun day from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 1253 Mount Aetna Rd. Families can pick up back-to-school supplies like backpacks and new shoes, while kids can enjoy bounce houses, a petting zoo, a firefighter demonstration, a soccer clinic, a dunk tank and arts and crafts.

Interfaith Progressive Dinner

Lastly, mark your calendars for an Interfaith Progressive Dinner on Saturday, Sept. 26, from 5 to 9 p.m., organized by the Hagerstown Area Religious Council. In honor of the International Day of Peace, participants will visit different local houses of worship representing various faith traditions and enjoy a meal together at each stop. Tickets are $25 for general admission and $10 for students (including college students). However, attendance is limited to 100 people, so buy your tickets by Sept. 18 if you want to join. You can find all the details and registration info on the Interfaith Progressive Dinner Facebook page.
