WAYNESBORO—Gallery 50 hosts its second Art Improv Class with local artist Julie Kreps on Saturday, March 28 from 2-4 p.m. at 50 West Main Street in downtown Waynesboro.
“Just as improv comedians try to do a skit based on suggestions from an audience, we’ll be trying to draw things based on suggestions picked at random. You’ll be amazed at the wild and wacky things we come up with!” Kreps described. “This class is designed for anyone of any artistic ability, from stick figures to fine art. It’s a perfect activity for families, friends, or individuals to express their creativity and have some fun.”
The class costs $20 per person, with all supplies included. Ages 8 and up are welcome, and participants age 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Advance registration is required online, and the link can be found at artsalliancegw.org
Kreps was born and raised in Baltimore City, Maryland, but currently resides in south central Pennsylvania. Her artistic interest started as a child. Art classes were always inviting to her in school, so she signed up for every class she could. After learning the art of calligraphy, she has done several private calligraphy commissions throughout the years.

After 10 years of U.S. Army military service, and several years as a stay-at-home mom, she went back to school and obtained an Associate of Arts from Hagerstown Community College. Kreps continued her fine arts and mathematics education at Shippensburg University. She currently works as a mathematics instructor and also teaches art as well as volunteering at Gallery 50.
Kreps enjoys working with graphite, colored pencils, watercolor pencils, acrylics, watercolors, and pastels. She continues to take classes of all kinds with other artists in many different mediums in order to keep learning new things and improving upon her skills. The art she makes is largely inspired by her family and nature.
Gallery 50 is owned and operated by the Arts Alliance of Greater Waynesboro and spotlights fine art and high-quality crafts from local artists and artisans. The gallery is open Fridays from 5-8 p.m. and Saturdays from 10:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., and many items are also available to browse and purchase on its online shop at gallery50-aagw.square.site.
