Franklin County students shine at SkillsUSA state conference

Franklin County Career and Technology Center (FCCTC) celebrated the achievements of its students at the SkillsUSA State Conference and Competition held in Hershey last week. Ten students represented the school, with seven earning medals across various categories.

Three students from the Natural Resources and Agricultural team—Danielle Herrold, Jayce Smith, and Grace Shew—secured first place in the Career Pathways Showcase. Abigail Moyer, competing in Graphic Communications, earned her second consecutive state championship title. Braden Lehman also claimed gold in Job Skill Demonstration Open. Silver medals were awarded to Donovan Vincent in Telecommunications Cabling, while Luke Detweiler earned bronze in Motorcycle Service Technology.

These victories reflect the dedication of both students and staff, including Mr. Dave Perry, who mentored four gold medalists from the Land and Horticulture program. FCCTC’s SkillsUSA advisors—Mallory Waltman, Steven Wilmot, and Caitlin O’Donnell—played a pivotal role in guiding students to success.

The first-place winners will advance to the national SkillsUSA Championships in Atlanta this June, showcasing their talents on a larger stage.
