HARRISBURG, Pa. — The Shapiro administration is awarding $38 million through PennDOT’s Green Light-Go program to 86 municipalities in 31 counties, including funding for traffic signal improvements in Franklin County.
Since Gov. Josh Shapiro took office, the administration has invested $134 million through the program, and more than 1,700 traffic signals have been upgraded statewide, according to PennDOT. The grants reimburse municipalities for projects that improve the efficiency and operation of existing traffic signals. Eligible work includes LED technology, signal retiming, special-event traffic planning, traffic signal monitoring and upgrades to modern signal technologies.
PennDOT Secretary Mike Carroll said the program helps communities improve safety and mobility. “The safety improvements supported by the Green Light-Go program will help municipalities keep Pennsylvanians moving safely and efficiently,” Carroll said in a statement.
In Franklin County, Antrim Township was awarded $523,808 for traffic signal upgrades at six signalized intersections. Those locations are Buchanan Trail and Grindstone Hill Road; Buchanan Trail, Antrim Church Road and John Wayne Drive; Molly Pitcher Highway, Comfort Inn Driveway and the Interstate 81 northbound off-ramp; Buchanan Trail and the Interstate 81 southbound on- and off-ramps; Buchanan Trail and the Interstate 81 northbound on- and off-ramps; and Molly Pitcher Highway, Antrim Commons Drive and the Interstate 81 southbound on- and off-ramps.
Chambersburg Borough received $12,000 to upgrade pedestrian signal controls at King Street and North Main Street, and at Queen Street and South Main Street.
