GETTYSBURG, Pa. — Former Gettysburg Mayor Chad Alan Carr appeared in Adams County court Thursday, where his attorneys requested that his criminal case be moved to York County.
Carr did not enter a plea during the hearing, which had been scheduled as a plea proceeding. His attorneys instead requested a change of venue, asking that future proceedings be held in York County.
Carr is charged with offenses involving alleged child sexual abuse. He is scheduled to return to court in December.
Carr resigned as Gettysburg mayor March 5, a little more than two months after taking office in January. His resignation came before the first charges were filed later that month.
Additional charges were filed after more people came forward with allegations, including allegations involving community and theater groups, according to prior reporting. Carr was later arrested in Texas on an Adams County warrant and returned to Pennsylvania.
Court records previously indicated Carr was being held without bail in the Adams County Correctional Facility after the additional charges were filed.
Carr, a former borough council member, defeated incumbent Mayor Rita Frealing by 43 votes in the 2025 Democratic primary. Frealing later secured the Republican nomination through write-in votes, and Carr won the November general election by 185 votes.
Carr has not entered a plea. The charges are allegations, and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
