Explore Franklin County’s Parks and Recreation in Enjoyment Lecture Series

WAYNESBORO—The Institute’s spring lecture series, Enjoy Franklin County, PA continues on Thursday, March 21 with “Play Days in the Parks—Not Just for Kids.” The free program is at 7 p.m. in the social room at Church of the Apostles in Waynesboro.

Presented by Janet Pollard, executive director of the Franklin County Visitors Bureau (FCVB), the illustrated talk explores the many and varied parks in Franklin County, Pa., and the activities available for all to enjoy.

“Discover where you can play a game of pickleball, take in a live music concert on a summer evening, go for a swim, ride your bike on the rail trails—and so much more,” Pollard said. Questions welcome.

Prior to joining FCVB in 2007, Pollard worked for the Greater Chambersburg Chamber of Commerce for ten years, and was a freelance writer for over thirty-five years.

“Franklin County tourism is like a shining light that has been covered, and I most enjoy letting people see that light shine,” she said.

The third and final program, on Tues. April 2, is “Foraging in Franklin County,” presented by Dr. David Foster, professor of biology & environmental science at Messiah University.

The lecture series is sponsored by Robert and Grace Brown, with additional support from The Institute’s Today’s Horizon Fund contributors: The Nora Roberts Foundation; Marge Kiersz; and the Carolyn Terry Eddy Family: Carolyn, with daughters Connie Fleagle & Kim Larkin.
