Evening commute could be hazardous

Franklin, Adams, Cumberland and Perry counties are under a Winter Weather Advisory Tuesday, Nov. 15, from 1 to 10 p.m.

According to the National Weather Service, our region could see mixed precipitation from rain to snow, with the possibility of slippery road conditions, especially during the evening commute.

But what actually falls from the sky could vary from town to town.

“We expect mixed precipitation in the form of rain, snow, maybe a little sleet arriving there probably early to mid-afternoon,” said Kevin Fitzgerald with the National Weather Service in State College. “It looks like the higher elevations over the western edge of Franklin County are likely to see some white, up to an inch or so, but a good portion of the southcentral part of county will see mainly rain.”

Fitzgerald said temperatures Tuesday will be below normal, with highs in Chambersburg and south in the low 40s as the precipitation arrives, then dropping into the 30s.

After Tuesday, conditions should improve, although remain cold.

“It looks like below normal temps for the rest of the week and into the weekend and then looks like back to normal or above normal next week,” Fitzgerald said.
