Eliana Sandy Honored for Completing Keystone Girls State Program

Waynesboro – Eliana Sandy was presented with a Certificate of Achievement by Pennsylvania State Representative Paul Schemel for completing the Keystone Girls State course in citizenship and leadership. The Keystone Girls State program was started by the American Legion Auxiliary to educate young women in citizenship, leadership, and governance.

The program is designed to teach young women about the workings of government and the importance of civic engagement. Participants learn about the legislative process, the judicial system, and the executive branch of government. They also have the opportunity to run for office and participate in mock elections.

Representative Schemel, who represents District 90 in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, presented the certificate to Sandy in recognition of her hard work and dedication to the program. “I am proud to recognize Eliana for completing the Keystone Girls State course,” said Schemel.

The Keystone Girls State program is open to young women who have completed their junior year of high school. Participants are selected based on their academic achievement, leadership potential, and interest in government and civic engagement.
