CHAMBERSBURG – Franklin County Commissioners presented the February Employee of the Month award to Michael Deckert during the board’s March 5 public meeting. Deckert has been employed by Franklin County since November 2022 and serves as the director of infrastructure and help desk services in the county’s information technology services department.

February’s Employee of the Month recipient was determined by the Special Thanks and Recognition (STAR) Committee, which received six nominations for the February award, two of which were for Deckert. One nomination cited the “exemplary dedication and exceptional efforts” Deckert recently displayed in getting a critical software system back up and running.

“During the critical outage of the Franklin County Jail’s Offender Management System that severely impacted jail operations – particularly regarding incoming commitments and releases – Mike demonstrated initiative and expertise,” said the nomination. “Despite the vendor’s IT team’s inability to resolve the issue, Mike intervened, effectively restoring operational functionality. He extended his availability beyond standard working hours and maintained a professional and respectful demeanor with jail staff.”

The nomination continued, “His contributions exemplify the value of interdepartmental collaboration and serve as a model for all team members. Thank you, Mike, for your invaluable service.”

Deckert’s outstanding characteristics are attributes that have not gone unnoticed by his peers. He is described as dedicated, professional and responsive as well as someone who has exceptional work ethics, is a problem solver and excels at strong team collaboration.

The Franklin County Commissioners congratulated Deckert on his recognition and thanked him for his excellent work and for exuding such a high standard of knowledge, leadership and excellence to the employees and residents of Franklin County.
