Community groups shine in America250PA parade

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – The EPIC Franklin County Parade brought together a wide range of community groups April 18, celebrating the county’s role in America’s 250th anniversary.

Held at 1 p.m., the parade invited participants of all kinds — from youth organizations and veterans’ groups to Jeep clubs, marching bands and dance teams — to roll, ride, march or dance through the county in a show of community pride.

Organizers designed the event to reflect the spirit of America250PA, a statewide initiative built around the acronym EPIC: Educate, Preserve, Innovate and Celebrate. The Franklin County parade highlighted those themes through a variety of creative entries representing local history, agriculture, arts, innovation and community life.

Participants included civic organizations, historical societies, church groups, fire companies, tractor and farm groups, horse riders and community performers. Each group was encouraged to showcase its identity and tell its story in a unique and engaging way.

The parade featured multiple themed divisions, including innovation, arts, nature, history, preservation, Franklin County communities, veterans and agriculture. The event aimed to showcase the people and organizations that shape the county while inspiring both residents and visitors to explore more of what Franklin County has to offer.

Organizers said the parade served as both a celebration and a reflection of Franklin County’s heritage, culture and community spirit as part of the broader America250PA initiative.
