Chambersburg softball tops Waynesboro with 13-0 win

WAYNESBORO, Pa. – The Chambersburg varsity softball team used a dominant third-inning surge to secure a 13-0 shutout victory over Waynesboro in a five-inning contest Friday afternoon.

The Trojans (7-1) established control early, building a 5-0 lead through the first two frames. The offense reached its peak in the third inning, where Chambersburg sent a flurry of batters to the plate to drive in eight runs and effectively put the game out of reach.

Addy Gsell provided the primary power for the Trojans, finishing 2-for-4 with two doubles and four RBIs. Marley Onomastico contributed a perfect 3-for-3 performance at the plate, accounting for three RBIs.

The lineup saw contributions from nearly every position, as all but one starter recorded a base hit. Leadoff hitter Erissa Varner helped set the pace with a 2-for-3 outing, while Sanay Jones added two RBIs to the team total.

On the mound, a two-pitcher rotation silenced the Waynesboro bats. Issie Slimmer earned the start and surrendered only one hit—a single to Rylee Miller—over three innings of work. Jones entered in relief for the final two frames, striking out five batters and allowing just one walk to seal the one-hit shutout.

The loss continues a difficult stretch for Waynesboro (3-6), which has dropped five of its last six games.

Chambersburg now enters a dense portion of its schedule featuring seven games in 12 days. The Trojans return home to face Big Spring at 4:15 p.m. Monday. Waynesboro remains at home to host James Buchanan at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday.
