CHAMBERSBURG– The Chambersburg Area School District (CASD) is urging students and staff to leave all Chromebooks and iPads at home and not to log on to them, after the district was hit by a ransomware attack earlier this school year.
The district announced the attack in a statement, saying that it had been experiencing a network disruption affecting the operability of certain CASD computer systems. The district said that it was working with third-party forensic specialists to investigate the event and restore full, secure functionality to its environment.
The district did not say whether any personal or confidential information had been compromised in the attack. However, it said that it was taking the matter seriously and would continue to provide updates as more information was confirmed.
