Local events offer ways to celebrate Mom locally

Blue Ridge Summit Free Library will host their annual plant sale Saturday May 9.

Families looking to celebrate Mother’s Day have a range of local events to choose from this weekend, offering everything from hands-on workshops to relaxing retreats and brunch experiences.

Organizers encourage early planning, noting that many events require advance registration and tend to sell out. Shoppers are also reminded not to wait until the last minute for gifts. Instead, they should check out local boutiques ahead of the weekend to find unique options.

A variety of events are scheduled for Saturday, May 9, beginning with the Mother’s Day Plant Sale at the Blue Ridge Summit Free Library from 8 a.m. to noon. The annual fundraiser features a wide selection of plants, including annuals, perennials, herbs and hanging baskets. Library officials say the sale offers practical and meaningful gift options while supporting community programming.

Later in the morning, Backroads Greenhouse will host its Mother’s Day Brunch and Plant event at 9:30 a.m. Guests will enjoy a light brunch followed by a guided planting workshop, where each participant will create a planted teacup to take home. Space is limited, and tickets are required in advance.

At 10 a.m., Antrim Spring Farm will hold its second annual Bloom Bar: Brunch with Mom. The event combines bouquet-making, food and refreshments in a farm setting. Attendees will also have the chance to visit resident Highland cows, adding a family-friendly element to the experience. Organizers noted last year’s event sold out.

For those seeking a slower-paced day, the Rooted & Restored Mother’s Day Wellness Retreat will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Stony Spring Manor. The retreat includes Pilates sessions, guided breathwork, mini massages and a variety of wellness activities designed to promote relaxation and connection. Vendors and workshops will be available throughout the day.

Mother’s Day continues on Sunday, May 10, with the “Petals and Pour” make-and-take event hosted by The Vintage Flame Candles at noon. Participants can create custom candles and choose from several floral keepsake projects, offering a creative way to celebrate or craft a personalized gift.

With options ranging from creative workshops to wellness experiences, local organizers say the weekend provides opportunities for families and friends to celebrate mothers in meaningful and memorable ways.
