WAYNESBORO – Hundreds of music lovers filled the Waynesboro Area Senior High School auditorium Sunday afternoon, April 27, as the Waynesboro Community Concert Association presented Bennie and the Jets, an acclaimed Elton John tribute band.
Cherry Snyder opened the concert by welcoming the audience and sharing news of the passing of Janet Smedley, a longtime volunteer and board member who retired in 2024. Snyder recognized Smedley’s years of dedication to the association and her impact on the community.
The main event featured Bennie and the Jets, led by Greg Ransom, whose vocals and piano skills closely mirrored Elton John’s signature sound. The band performed crowd favorites including “All the Girls Love Alice,” “Bennie and the Jets,” “Daniel,” “Believe” and “Crocodile Rock,” among others.
Throughout the performance, the band engaged with the audience, encouraging singalongs and creating a lively, interactive atmosphere. Attendees sang along, tapped their feet and celebrated the enduring music of Elton John.
The concert highlighted both the power of live music and the strength of community, honoring a dedicated volunteer and providing an afternoon of entertainment for all ages.
