CHAMBERSBURG – The Chambersburg Police Department has announced road closures for the upcoming Old Market Day event on Saturday, July 20. Philadelphia Avenue will be closed to traffic from Commerce Street south to Chambers Street from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. to accommodate a new traffic detour for the downtown special event. Additional closures include Main Street from King Street to Washington Street and Lincoln Way from Second Street to Black Avenue. HARRISBURG- The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that a detour is scheduled to begin Saturday, July 20, for the bridge replacement project on Route 116 near Gettysburg in Adams County. The bridge spans a tributary to Willoughby Run just west of Willoughby Run Road in Cumberland Township.  The detour will use Knoxlyn Ortanna Road (Route 3020), Knoxlyn Road (Route 3013), Route 30 and Baltimore Street. Trucks should adhere to the detour route and refrain from using township roads. CHAMBERSBURG — The Franklin County Area Agency on Aging has announced that its senior activity centers in Chambersburg, Greencastle, and Tuscarora will extend their hours today, Monday, July 15, and tomorrow, Tuesday, July 16, to serve as cooling stations for local residents aged 60 and older. These centers will be open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. to provide relief from the sweltering heat. CHAMBERSBURG — The Chambersburg Police Department have issued a warning about an ongoing phone scam targeting local residents. The scammer is impersonating a police officer and attempting to extort money from victims. On July 12, authorities were alerted to fraudulent calls made by an individual claiming to be Sgt. Ian Armstrong, a real member of the Chambersburg Police Department.
