Minor League baseball has returned to Hagerstown with a flourish, Waynesboro Rotarians learned at a recent meeting. Natalie Brockway, director of corporate sales for the Hagerstown Flying Boxcars, presented details about the new Flying Boxcar’s stadium, Meritus Park. She said the facility is the newest state-of-the-art baseball stadium in the country. Meritus Park is in its first season and is expected to invigorate the area’s baseball passion and help rejuvenate downtown Hagerstown. HAGERSTOWN, MD – Some 53 local charities, as well as the Washington County Volunteer Fire Department, have benefitted from more than $2 million in gaming funds distributed by the TheWashington County Gaming Commission. The Gaming Fund total of $2,414,286 for fiscal year 2024, which ended June 30, represented a decrease of $128,744 when compared to fiscal year 2023 revenues. State law requires funds be divided equally between the Washington County Fire and Rescue Association and local charities.
