HARRISBURG—Franklin County Conservation District will receive $1,184,222 in funding to coordinate and implement Countywide Action Plan projects and verify Best Management Practices. Neighboring Adams County Conservation District was awarded $177,900; Fulton County Fulton County Conservation District: $204,442; and Cumberland County Commissioners, $283,750. The grants are part of $17.4 million in grant funding for projects in 33 counties across the Chesapeake Bay Watershed, highlighting their path-breaking work to improve the health of local streams, rivers, and lakes by reducing nutrient and sediment pollution. ROUZERVILLE–Lights and sirens headed to the Waynesboro Walmart recently, but not for an emergency call. This time, Washington Township Police Association members, Blue Ridge Fire and Rescue Company 4 members, Walmart associates and volunteer elves hosted Shop with a Cop 2021. SHADY GROVE—Santa’s Rotary elves have been busy preparing toys for area children. Volunteers from the Rotary Club of Waynesboro met recently at Hurley Auctions to bundle toys purchased for 171 children by club members. HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation will close all driver license and photo centers, including the Riverfront Office Center in Harrisburg, Saturday, Dec. 25, in observance of the Christmas holiday.  Customers may still obtain a variety of driver and vehicle products and services, including all forms, publications and driver training manuals, online through PennDOT’s Driver and Vehicle Services website, www.dmv.pa.gov. CHAMBERSBURG—The 2021 Franklin County Veterans Affairs Golf Tournament held in September at Penn National Golf Club in Fayetteville raised a record $23,802 to benefit programs and other services for area veterans, according to Franklin County Commissioners and Franklin County Office of Veterans Affairs. The 5th annual event featured an event-high 196 golfers along with prize drawings, raffles and in-tournament competitions for participants. HARRISBURG– The PA Department of Agriculture added Callery pear, commonly called Bradford Pear, to a list of noxious weeds, rendering them a plant that cannot be legally sold or cultivated in the state.
