WAYNESBORO—The 2022 Boro Blast will be held from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 31, throughout downtown Waynesboro. HARRISBURG—Washington Township is one of 22 municipalities across the state to share in approximately $12.9 million in Automated Red Light Enforcement funding from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. Washington Township was awarded $30,700 to conduct a traffic study along the Route 16 corridor, develop an optimal timing plan, and implement the necessary changes to enhance the flow of traffic in this corridor. Robert Evanchick, commissioner of the Pennsylvania State Police, has announced that 59 cadets graduated from the State Police Academy in Hershey and have been assigned to troops across the commonwealth, including four in Franklin County. Speed limit restrictions on major roadways in south-central Pennsylvania have been lifted. Due to the potential for slippery conditions earlier today, speed was reduced to 45 mph on interstates and other major roadways in the PennDOT District 8 region encompassing Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry and York counties. Although PennDOT crews have been treating roadways, motorists should be alert for areas of ice and snow. PennDOT will continue to treat roadways until all roads are clear. HARRISBURG–Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has reduced the speed limit on all interstates and major state-maintained roads across South Central Pennsylvania to 45 mph effective immediately. Crews are out salting and plowing, but expect slippery conditions, especially on bridges and overpasses, according to PennDOT officials.
