WAYNESBORO—Three talented Waynesboro Area Senior High students competed in the Annual Rotary Club of Waynesboro 4-Way Test Speech Contest held recently at the Waynesboro County Club. Dr Eneida Gjikuria sponsored a preliminary competition to select top students who would compete for the $300, $200 and $100 prizes awarded at the club’s event. Each contestant delivered a speech on a subject of their choosing, applying the Rotary 4-Way Test, the ethical guide Rotarians use for their personal and professional relationships. Shippensburg University men show well in opening outdoor track meet LYNCHBURG, Va. — The Shippensburg University men’s outdoor track & field team completed the season-opening weekend in solid fashion at the Dr. Jack L. Toms Alumni Invitational hosted by Lynchburg. The Raiders battled cold and windy conditions. Shamar Jenkins (Souderton/Souderton) won the triple jump on Saturday to record a NCAA-provisional qualifying mark. CHAMBERSBURG – The Franklin County Metropolitan Planning Organization is seeking feedback on transportation needs to help the county plan for the future. The MPO has launched an online survey to gauge public input and opinion as it advances its work on an update of its long-range transportation plan. As the decision-making body for Franklin County’s transportation projects and programs that use federal funding, the MPO wants input from residents before finalizing their priorities. The meal includes a half chicken, baked potato, applesauce and roll with butter and is provided by Plum Crazy BBQ. Tickets are $13. HARRISBURG—The Wolf administration has shared details of the $225 million appropriation in Act 2 of 2022, which will support the health care workforce needs of hospitals and behavioral health providers. This legislation received bi-partisan support in the General Assembly, and Gov. Tom Wolf signed it into law in January. YORK—Members of the Waynesboro Area YMCA Waves swim team returned home from a York meet with something to splash about. Seventy YMCA teams from around the state completed in the 2022 Pennsylvania YMCA State Meet. Six swimmers from the Waynesboro Waves qualified at districts to swim in this meet. Twelve-year-old Mady Barker placed 1st overall in the 1650 Yard Free, and 3rd in the 500 Yard Free. SHEPHERDSTOWN, WVA — The Shippensburg University baseball team completed a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division sweep of Shepherd on Saturday with a 5-4 win in Game 1 and a 4-2 win in Game 2 at Fairfax Field.
