CHAMBERSBURG – Residential and recreational areas in Greene Township, Franklin County, will be sprayed for adult mosquitoes beginning around sunset on Sept. 1. Areas in Greene Township include Greene Township Park, Scotland Memorial Park, Main Street (Scotland), Scotland Road, Smoketown Road, Rock Road, Hafer Road, Ocraoke Island Court, Church Street, Fiddlers Road, Luther Ridge Community, Mountain Shadows Community, Constellation Drive and Sundown Drive. High populations of adult mosquitoes capable of transmitting West Nile Virus – as well as nuisance mosquitoes – have been detected in these areas. CHAMBERSBURG–One person was killed in a construction accident Tuesday afternoon at Martin’s Famous Potato Rolls and Bread in Guilford Township. Emergency crews were dispatched just after 2 p.m. Tuesday to the 1000 block of Garber Road for a structural collapse. According to responders, three concrete slab walls collapsed, reportedly on a new construction site. HARRISBURG—The Pennsylvania State Police is advising residents of a recent influx of crimes being committed by Romanian transnational criminals. These criminals, usually described as appearing Middle Eastern or Hispanic, may pose as stranded motorists claiming to be in need of funds and willing to part with gold jewelry marked “18k.” The jewelry is later determined to be counterfeit once taken to a jewelry store or pawn shop.
