CHAMBERSBURG– The Franklin County Commissioners has announced the county is now accepting applications for the 2024 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program. The program is administered by the Franklin County Planning Department. CDBG funding is allocated through the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED), on behalf of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), to benefit non-entitlement municipalities and community organizations within Franklin County. CHAMBERSBURG- Governor Josh Shapiro joined leadership from Martin’s Famous Potato Rolls and Bread (Martin’s) to announce the company will invest $123.2 million to expand its existing manufacturing facility in Franklin County. The Rios babies started coming this week at WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital. And they just kept coming: first Ricardo, then Diana, and finally Emiliano. Valentin Rios and two of his sisters, Rosy and Claudia, all welcomed new babies in less than 48 hours, producing three beautiful, tiny, blanket-wrapped cousins that the siblings (and also aunts and uncles) were able to hold in their arms at the same time in the hospital’s maternity center. WAYNESBORO- The Rotary Club of Waynesboro submitted the following club news: Last Meeting’s Program (4.30.24 bulletin) Ed Herald, board chairman of the Waynesboro Community and Human Services, outlined the programs the charitable group provides for the Waynesboro and Greencastle areas. The organization, which traces its roots back to 1931, is set up to provide basic “neighbors helping neighbors” human services for those in need of them.
