HARRISBURG- The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is reminding travelers of a closure scheduled for next week on Route 997 (Anthony Highway) at a 4.75-mile resurfacing project in Quincy, Guilford, and Greene townships, Franklin County. The project limits are from the West Branch of Antietam Creek just north of Mont Alto Borough, through the Village of Pond Bank, to the intersection with Route 30. Weather permitting, Route 997 will be closed on the north side of the intersection with Bikle Road on Monday, May 13, so a drainage pipe can be replaced. As critical demand grows for physicians who are specially trained to offer mental health services, Meritus has received initial accreditation for a psychiatry residency program beginning in 2025. It’s one of several commitments by the health system to reduce the shortage of physicians in the region, state and nation. In July 2022, the health system announced its plans to pursue licensure and accreditation of a medical school to reduce the growing physician shortage. HAGERSTOWN, MD – The Washington County Division of Planning & Zoning announced, on April 22, 2024, with funding from Washington County and the Maryland Agricultural Land Preservation Foundation (MALPF), a 193.61-acre farm was preserved, adding to the more than 40,000 acres of permanently preserved land in the County.  The easement was procured through a Maryland Agricultural Land Preservation Program (MALPP) easement that was sold on a crop and dairy farm on Big Pool Road in Clear Spring.
