The nation marks its 250th anniversary on July 4, and nearly every community has big fireworks celerations planned. Following are what LocalNews1.org has learned so far. We’ll add more events as we learn of them. Readers may send other events to [email protected].
On Friday, July 3rd, Boonsboro Park board and the Mayor and Council will host an Independence Day celebration beginning at 5 p.m. at Shafer Park. There will be music and vendors, and the fireworks will begin at 9:30 p.m. Lawn chairs and blankets will be welcome.
Also on Friday, July 3rd, Hagerstown will have Fireworks at the Fairgrounds. There won’t be any food or drink vendors, but event-goers are encouraged to bring their own. The fireworks will begin at approximately 9:30 p.m.
On Saturday, July 4th, the 30th Annual Summer Jubilee in Waynesboro will include fireworks happening. You can enjoy the Jubilee and all of its activities during the day, then stay when the sun goes down for an amazing fireworks show!
Also on Saturday, July 4th, Chambersburg will host an Independence Day celebration! The fun will begin at 3 p.m. at Memorial Park with food trucks, bounce houses, games and activities, and fireworks later in the evening!
In Shippensburg on Saturday, July 4th, there will be a fireworks display happening in Veterans Stadium. The gates will open at 5 p.m., and the Shippensburg Town Band will be performing at 8 p.m. The National Anthem will be played at 9:15 p.m., and the fireworks will start at 9:30 p.m. Rita’s will be set up inside the stadium from 6 – 9:30 p.m.
On Saturday, July 4th, Carroll Valley will be running its 250th Independence Celebration at 33 Valley View Trail in Fairfield. Guests can enjoy live music, food vendors and local artists. The festivities will begin at 4 p.m., and the grand finale fireworks will begin at 9:45 p.m.
On Saturday, July 4th, Destination Gettysburg sponsors an extraordinary fireworks display at Rec Park, capping a daylong festival of food, music and family fun.
