Allison-Antrim Museum plans winter exhibits, programs

GREENCASTLE – The Allison-Antrim Museum in Greencastle will open the new year with a full schedule of exhibits and speaker programs highlighting Franklin County history, local art and African American heritage.

On Jan. 8 at 7 p.m., historian Douglass Reed will present “Franklin County’s Settlement Houses: The Venerable Log Cabin.” Reed will share insights from 37 years of research on historic log structures.

From Jan. 16 to Feb. 12, the museum will feature artwork by Greencastle-Antrim High School juniors and seniors. A public reception will take place Jan. 16 from 2:30 to 6 p.m.

In recognition of African American History Month, museum President and CEO Bonnie Shockey will present “The Anderson Family, the Underground Railroad, and Antrim Township” on Feb. 12 at 7 p.m. The program will focus on Timothy Anderson Sr.’s role in the Underground Railroad.

The museum, located at 365 S. Ridge Ave., offers free, wheelchair-accessible programs. Donations are appreciated. More information is available at GreencastleMuseum.org.
