A few places left for Bay Supper Fundraiser

WAYNESBORO – Registration is still open for the 28th annual Chesapeake Bay-themed fundraiser supper hosted by Buttonwood Nature Center on Friday, June 27 at the Waynesboro Country Club. The event begins with hors d’oeuvres at 5:30 p.m., when the silent auction begins. Cash bar available. Dinner is at 6:45 p.m.

The menu reflects the Chesapeake Bay theme, and includes hardshell crabs, steamed clams, Assateague clam chowder, mixed greens salad, Landlubbers fried chicken, Old Bay shrimp, Skipjack pasta salad, dinner rolls, and dessert.

Live and silent auctions highlight the event, with auctioneer Colin McPeak.

“There is always something for everyone at both our silent and live auctions,” said Jessica Watson, Buttonwood’s assistant director. “This year is no exception with experiences, antiques, collectibles, paintings, quilts and gift baskets.”

The live auction features unique items and experiences, such as handcrafted quilts, a luxurious beach house getaway, a chef-catered dinner, golf outing, garden party and more.

Proceeds from the event benefit Buttonwood Nature Center (formerly The Institute), a nonprofit organization that provides programming in environmental education and cultural history for area school children, plus workshops, lectures, programs and community events for all ages.

Tickets are $100 per person, or $115 per person for patrons. Patrons are listed in the event program. The popular “Heads n’ Tails” game is included in the ticket price.

Register for the Bay Supper online at www.buttonwoodnaturecenter.org. For more information, call 717-762-0373, or email to: [email protected].

“There is also a Bay Supper To-Go meal option available for $75 to support the event if you can’t attend,” Watson said.

Underwriting for this event is provided by “Blue Crab” Lead Sponsor, Blue Ridge Risk Partners on behalf of Craig, Friedly, Potter and Moore Insurance, and from “Clam Shucker Sponsor” Melissa Graham Johns and family, in memory of Steve Graham, program sponsors Chet and Betsy Mauk and Noelker and Hull Associates.

Additional support by Buttonwood’s Today’s Horizon Fund contributors: The Nora Roberts Foundation; Marge Kiersz; APX Enclosures; Don Gibe and Nancy Erlanson; and the family of the late Carolyn Terry Eddy, with daughters Connie Fleagle and Kim Larkin.
