County, College team up for paramedic training

HAGERSTOWN, Md. — The Washington County Board of County Commissioners approved a partnership agreement with Hagerstown Community College on Tuesday to enhance the county’s Paramedic Program, strengthening emergency medical training for future first responders.

The agreement, presented by Division of Emergency Services Director R. David Hays, Deputy Director Kevin Lewis, HCC President Dr. James Klauber, and Dean Teresa Shank, establishes shared oversight and training responsibilities between the Division of Emergency Services and the college. The program, hosted at the Public Safety Training Center, aims to deliver high-quality education to prepare paramedics for real-world emergencies.

By aligning organizational structures, the partnership ensures efficient collaboration while prioritizing the safety, health, and preparedness of Washington County residents.

The initiative underscores the county’s investment in public safety and community well-being through advanced training for paramedics.
